Government and Military Solutions

In 2005, Government and Military organizations spent more than $280 billion on R&D. These organizations are under tremendous pressure to understand how ever-changing industry regulations, government requirements and new technologies will impact proposed products and programs. They not only need to understand the timing of these changes as they occur, they also need to be able to make adjustments in near real-time.

Today, Government and Military organizations are using roadmaps to improve collaborative decision-making about new product and programs, and to gain better information on where to invest time, money and effort to meet top-level strategies. Using Alignent, these organizations are improving their ability to streamline communication on innovative products and programs that involve multiple stakeholders, including government agencies, industry consultants and suppliers.

Industry Use Case

The NAVAIR Science & Technology Office is using Alignent's collaborative roadmapping system to encourage continued technology investments, supplier collaboration and improved decision-making about the future.

NAVAIR is developing Science & Technology roadmaps for rotorcraft and vertical lift aviation platforms and systems.

"By linking developing technologies with programmatic windows of opportunity through roadmaps, we can leverage investments, improve transition rates, and increase the impact of new technologies,” said Suresh Verma, head of Science & Technology Planning at NAVAIR.

Currently, over 200 technologies are being tracked within Alignent's Vision Strategist roadmapping solution.

"We're encouraged that many of our major suppliers, including Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman, are also using Alignent's Vision Strategist," said Verma. "By linking industry and government technology developments through a dynamic roadmapping system, we can provide a sure way to maximize available S&T investment, and speed the transition of much-needed technologies."
