Alignent Software Unveils Vision Strategist Version 3.6

Addition of Relationship Browser and Smart Elements enhances search capability, facilitates relationship browsing among elements

Carlsbad, California - June 23, 2005 - Alignent Software, the market leader in enterprise strategic planning software, today announced the release of Vision Strategist Version 3.6, the latest version of its collaborative planning solution that allows global enterprises to share mission-critical market, product and technology planning information.

Using Vision Strategist 3.6, enterprises can create forward-thinking visual roadmaps to actively manage the strategic planning process, as well as trace current and future technologies, markets, capabilities and costs over time. This new version of Vision Strategist provides easy visibility into the relationships and interdependencies among the various planning elements, allowing users to identify hidden gaps, opportunities and dependencies throughout the planning process.

According to Steve Nathan, Alignent's Vice President of Products, "the latest release of Vision Strategist offers a host of new features that makes the roadmapping software even more robust. The addition of Relationship Browser makes it easy to navigate relationships across various elements and get a crisp overview of what's linked to what and how." In addition, Relationship Browser can filter information so that it's customized to the particular needs of each user.

Another enhancement to Vision Strategist 3.6 is the addition of Smart Elements. "With this feature, users can formally classify the elements on their roadmaps as being of a particular type, such as product, technology, or customer requirement. The system then knows enough about the elements to enable searching and browsing that's specific to each type of element," Nathan adds.

With powerful decision-making tools, Vision Strategist 3.6 enables organizations to centralize strategic plans across the enterprise and house them in a common repository. This ensures that company-wide planning information is accessible to the various business units involved in new product innovation, rather than being embedded in hundreds or thousands of individual spreadsheets.

"The centralized database allows process owners to keep planning information up-to-date, ensuring that all stakeholders have access to real-time information," explains Carl Dietz, Alignent's Chief Strategy Officer. While access to real-time planning data throughout the organization is a great benefit in itself, Dietz argues that the real value comes from the higher-quality product planning investment decisions that are made as a result of having that information available. "By giving decision-makers a better tool to visualize how R&D dollars are being spent, they can divert R&D budget dollars on projects with the highest return on investment while aligning them to corporate objectives," explains Dietz.

Other new features of Vision Strategist 3.6 include: displaying fiscal years and timelines in roadmaps, determining in which roadmap an element is referenced, pro-active notification of conflicts, even when not logged onto the system, and several other features.
